Sheikh Hamdan tours Aster’s Dubai hub powering medicine supplies across UAE

The 145,000 sq. ft. facility processes 75,000 transactions daily

DUBAI – His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the UAE and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, visited Aster Pharmacy’s distribution centre at Dubai Industrial City.

The facility is one of the region’s largest pharmaceutical warehouses and serves as a key hub for the distribution of medicines and medical supplies. During the visit, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the important role of the private sector in building and developing an efficient and reliable healthcare system.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also stressed the importance of public-private cooperation in delivering high-quality healthcare services and meeting the community’s needs for medicines and medical supplies.

Advanced operations

Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, and Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, briefed His Highness on the operations of the 145,000 sq. ft. facility and its role in supporting Aster’s network across the UAE and GCC.

The distribution centre uses advanced robotic systems designed to streamline warehouse operations and improve the speed and accuracy of medicine distribution. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum commended the facility’s innovative approach and its contribution to more efficient pharmaceutical supply chains.

The facility handles approximately 75,000 transactions every day through Aster’s UAE network, which comprises 350 pharmacies, 120 medical clinics and 15 hospitals.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum expressed his support for Aster’s continued expansion and its efforts to introduce innovative solutions that enhance healthcare services and contribute to the development of the UAE’s healthcare system.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied during the visit by Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; and Malek Al Malek, Chairman of TECOM Group.

Dr. Azad Moopen said Aster was honoured to welcome His Highness Sheikh Hamdan and showcase the capabilities of its advanced robotic warehouse. He said the facility supports faster, more accurate and efficient distribution of medicines across the UAE, while the visit reinforced the importance of innovation and public-private collaboration in strengthening the country’s healthcare ecosystem.
